Mavis Beacon Keyboarding
In this lesson, you will learn:
This program is based on Mavis Beacon at this time. The version does not matter, and work
can be done at home using Mavis Beacon ONLY, submitting three completed speed test certificates
that meets the minimum criteria.
Beginning Keyboarding
This is a certificated program: on completion of three speed tests of
30 WPM with 95 % accuracy for basic keyboarding
50 WPM with 95 % accuracy for advanced keyboarding
a Certificate of Achievement will be issued for resume or employment portfolios.
Using Mavis Beacon
- Click on Start
- Click on All Programs
- Select Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing
- Click on the Mavis Program

Entering Mavis Beacon |
- Click "Create New User"
- At WELCOM TO REGISTRATION click "Next"
- Enter your FULL NAME and click "Next"
- Choose your USER GROUP and click "Next"
- Choose "101 Standard" and click "Next"
- Choose "Standard" and click "Next"
- Change the GOALS to "55" and click "Next"
- Choose "Finish"
- Click the mouse or hit "Enter" twice to get past the movie
- Click on the computer screen
- Click on "Beginner Typist"
- On the left side, click Start Lesson

- Click "User Manager"
- Click on "IMPORT"
- Under "Look In" at the top, select "My Documents" and your student folder
- Click on your name. (eg. John Smith.rec)
- click "Open"
- CLOSE USER MANAGER - click "Close"
- You should be back in "Class Sign In" click on your name
- Choose "Enter Classroom"
- Click the mouse or hit "Enter" twice to get past the movie
- Click on the computer screen
- On the left side, click Start Lesson

To Exit and save your Data
- Click "Exit"
- Click "START AS A DIFFERENT USER"
- Click "USER MANAGER"
- Click on your name
- Click on "EXPORT"
- Under "Save In" choose "My Documents" and select your student folder
- Select "Open"
- Select "Save"
- Click "CLOSE" to close the User Manager
- Click "EXIT"
- Now you are sure you want to leave so Click on "YES"
- To stop the movie and clear the screen press and hold down the "ALT" key
and touch the F4 key.
