If a verse has an ' a ' or a ' b' behind it, it means it is the first part or the second part of the verse, and not the whole verse.
| Heb 12: 6, 11 | For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby | |
| Job 5: 17, 18 | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. |
|
| Ecc 8: 11 | Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. | |
| Prov 15: 32 | He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. | |
| Prov 27: 5 | Open rebuke is better than secret love. | |
| Prov 22: 15 | 15Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. | |
| Prov 16: 6 | By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil |
Version InformationIn 1604, King James I of England authorized that a new translation of the Bible into English be started. It was finished in 1611, just 85 years after the first translation of the New Testament into English appeared (Tyndale, 1526). The Authorized Version, or King James Version, quickly became the standard for English-speaking Protestants. Its flowing language and prose rhythm has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 300 years. The King James Version present on the Bible Gateway matches the 1987 printing. The KJV is public domain in the United States.
